Matchup Rules

April 2, 2009 4:39 am

Same as the draft rules thread, lets find all the rules we have some issues with and correct them I guess...:)

Rules for Matches:

  1. Word Limits to gameplans, during pool periods (1000 word max ), during tournament ( 1200 word max ). Word Count does not include listing of rosters and minutes.
  2. Requirement that each Coach must list the minutes played of each player in the gameplan, no more "Match LeBrons minutes"
  3. Requirement that each player must be designated to a particular position in the gameplans, for example if you have Moses Malone, you must say that he's playing 30min at C, then 10min at PF.
  4. Penalty if someone does not turn in a gameplan, once = forfeit, twice = removal from contest.
  5. Games that go into overtime or get "enough" votes will just continue on and won't push the next set of games back to mess up schedule. ( minimum of 10 votes in each match )  Matches that are tied in point value after 3 days will go into an overtime period of 24 hours where whichever team is leading at that time wins the match.  If it's tied still then we go into a sudden death period where the next vote wins.
  6. If someone doesn't turn in a gameplan they will lose the match by forfeit, the Poster who turned in their gameplan has the option to post only their gameplan for people to comment.  Winning team gets an automatic 5 votes for and 0 votes against ( used for tie-breaking purposes )
  7. When both teams fail to turn in gameplans, turns into Roster only match then.  The winner of the match gets an automatic 5 votes for and 0 votes against ( used for tie-breaking purposes ).
  8. Votes that are "Marginal" in the contest will need to be explained further, a marginal vote is one that shows clearly the Poster didn't read the gameplans and needs to explain the reasoning further. ( Only COTB determines marginal votes )
  9. Voting value in the game threads: ( Details to be finalized by the BOD ).
*Votes from Sole Owners = 2 points
*Votes from Team Owners = 1 point
           *Votes from non-participants = 1 point

Im fine with a 8-0 win.

I think the loss for both teams is fine as well. 1 team shouldn't benefit over another when both screw up, but with that said i don't think it will be an issue. I HIGHLY doubt we ever have a game where both teams don't get a gameplan in.

Ok 8 votes automatic on a forfeit. Sweet.

I'd like to give both teams a loss if they don't turn in a gameplan.

Standings could look like this

3-0
1-2
1-2
0-3

But hey, I don't think it matters really, the best team needs to go through at the end of the day and I don't want a team going through to a higher group just because they won in a roster-roster battle.

Yeah, we got the voting sorted out now. We hadn't when I posted this...haha..

But yeah, giving both teams a loss is something we need to bring up and possibly vote on.

Ah, I didn't realize there could be parts to this group, learn something new every day...heh.

For Rule #6 I think it should be 10 votes to 0 votes for a forfeit. Because 10 votes is the minimum for games....

Yea, this is how we did it for the CPMD and it seemed like too much of an advantage to be honest.  But if all goes well in this ATMD we should be getting 15+ votes every match so it might be different.  Maybe we split the difference, you want 10, I say 5, we can go with 8?

For rule #7, I think both teams should get a loss to be honest. It doesn't make sense from a standings point of view then, but just for the sake of recognising which teams are better. I don't think one team should go 2-1 because they got a win in roster vs roster.

When both teams fail to turn in gameplans, turns into Roster only match then.  The winner of the match gets an automatic 5 votes for and 0 votes against ( used for tie-breaking purposes ).

You know I actually agree with that now thinking about it.  Roster only matches are sometimes fun to vote on, but it does bring down the concept of the contest.  Ok, you have me on that one, good point.

Rule #9 is obviously something big that needs to be discussed further.

Voting value in the game threads: ( Details to be finalized by the BOD ).
*Votes from Sole Owners = 2 points
*Votes from Team Owners = 1 point
       *Votes from non-participants = 1 point

Yea, that's the big bad voodoo daddy it seems.  I went along with using that in the first set of Pool Play games as a trail.  We have yet to hear G8tr chime in on any of these items but he clearly suggested that teams should not be able to vote 2x the value as Sole Owners.  The biggest rebuttal has of course come from Jakey.  I am ok with it for the first set, as anything in the contest if it's not working we can readdress it right away as a BOD.

And yes, I got your Prediction NH, and it's been recorded.

I'm not sure what I think on this one and it is definitely debateable...

We could possibly trial giving every person 1 per vote like we normally have and see how it works out...But then taking it away would be a move that would be hard to make...

So we really need to make a decision here.

:)
